The following is an example of urban street flooding at an intersection in the surburbs of Grand Rapids, Michigan. The storm drains were unable to handle the heavy rain of a severe thunderstorm, and a neighborhood flood was the result. The flood quickly receeded after this photo was taken, thus turning out to be nothing more than a minor nuisance for the neighborhood residents. I am the person walking on the left side of the picture.

This next picture is looking at the flood in a direction away from the primary spot where the storm drains were backing up. The flood extended quite a distance up the street. Plenty of people got a great deal of enjoyment strolling through the shallow flood waters, as the person in this next picture is doing.
