Devil's Tower National
Monument, Wyoming
Devil's Tower is a nearly vertical natural monolith that rises 1,267
feet above the Belle Fourche River in Wyoming. It was the first feature
to receive national monument status on September 24, 1906. The first
photo is taken looking straight up at the tower from almost the highest
point that I could climb without using special equipment. The second
photo is of a prairie dog at Devil's Tower. I sat by a prairie dog hole
and waited for it to come out. It was well worth the wait! The third
photo is a blow-up of the second photo.
