HOW I FOUND FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST

INTRODUCTION

This page is an introduction to a story that describes my personal conversion to faith in Jesus Christ. The story begins with the actual conversion that took place in January of 1982 when I was 16 years old. It then describes my life during the twenty months that followed.

One might be tempted to say that this story is about how I found God. However, it may be more accurate to say that this story is about how God found me! I have to admit that I can't really say that I was looking for Him at the time. In fact, it was God who reached out to me!

I have decided to post this story for several reasons:

• (1) It expresses a moment in time that was the major turning point in my life. It was the moment that I found purpose and meaning in life. Jesus Christ has made a difference in my life.

• (2) It is a reminder to me of the simplicity of the gospel of Jesus Christ. It has now been over 35 years since I became a Christian. I so often forget the simple truths that God taught me back then. I need to be reminded.

• (3) I want people to know what Christ has done in my life. He has saved me from eternal death and hell, and He has transformed my life.

• (4) I originally had only the first chapter of this story posted on my web site. However, I started to get emails from people who wanted to know more about what happened after my conversion. So, by popular (or maybe not so popular) demand, here is "the rest of the story."

I originally wrote most of what you are about to read in 1983. Other parts have been added since that time, and I have slightly modified some of what I originally wrote. The names of most of the people in this story have been changed in order to protect their identities and respect their privacy.
