          I was first exposed to the music of Bob Riley & the Fishers during the early 1990s while I was the dj for a Christian alternative rock radio program. My show--known as Beat Peculiar--was on the now non-existent WBYW-FM, an eclectic and international radio station out of Grand Rapids, Michigan. I was known for playing various off-beat, underground, and non-commercial Christian rock artists who were straight-forward in their Christian lyrics and who were commitment to art and creativity in their music. Bob Riley & the Fishers was one of the artists to whom I gave regular airplay.




          Bob Riley continues to record music today, still as an independent artist. He is a Jewish Christian who lives and works on the Big Island of Hawaii. Much of his music involves putting Bible passages to various styles of music including rock, reggae, and country. His music was picked up by several Christian alternative rock radio programs across the U.S. during the 1990s. There was a fair amount of support for his music from the underground Christian music scene at that time, although awareness of his music is not so widespread today.
