These photos were taken on May 17, 2007 at a national
observatory on the top of Kitt Peak. Kitt peak has an elevation
of approximately 6,800 feet above sea
level. It is located in the Arizona-Sonoran Desert on the Tohono
O'odham Nation, approximately 55 miles south-west of
Tucson. On the day I was there, the temperature at the top of
Kitt Peak was 72° Fahrenheit.
This was quite a contrast to the 98° Fahrenheit temperature in the
desert at the base of the mountain! It was
refreshing to get a
break from the desert heat!
